A new you for summer, at the New Hall Hotel & Spa

A few minutes’ drive from the hustle of Birmingham city centre is the New Hall Hotel & Spa, in the leafy superb of Sutton Coldfield.

At 800 years old, New Hall Hotel offers 4-stars and 60-bedrooms, set within 26 acres of richly timbered land, thick pasture and elegant gardens.

First, the entrance is worth a mention as you need to cross a medieval moat complete with Gargoyles before you book in at reception.

Today I’m booking in for a friend’s baby shower – my first one, and my gift to the Mother-to-be is a pregnancy facial here at the hotel’s Spa set to the back of the building within the verdant grounds.

Of her facial, Anna tells Medfed.co: “It was very refreshing. Pregnancy had made my skin feel very tired, especially in the third trimester. I came out feeling rejuvenated and with a healthy glow.”

For me, the main draw-cord to New Hall is the luxury on offer, nurturing every part of me from back to belly (my over indulgence from Christmas still lingers on the scales).

Surrounded by an enchanting lily-filled moat, the spa offers the TLC I need as well as treatments to guests on an individual basis, or as a spa day or break.

I opt for a Himalayan Salt Ritual to invigorate my tired body and leave my skin feeling smooth.

After undressing, my masseuse rubs warmed bars of Himalayan salt on me, before wrapping my entire body in hot, warm towels to allow the salts to work their magic.

I rest for an hour in a warm and fuzzy state of bliss, before the salts are washed off with a warm flannel to reveal a smoother skin.

Once dressed I wait for Anna in the reception and inhale what can only be described as the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted – a real treat and the manager must have anticipated tired and sleepy clients after their heavenly relaxing rituals.

Later we hit the spa and sauna for further relaxation that’s framed by the lush gardens looking in from the outside.

After a swim and salt scrub, dinner on the evening before the baby shower arrives guilt free at The Bridge Restaurant with its 2 AA Rosettes.

New Hall Hotel & Spa seriously impressed myself and Anna. Four-stars may not give this majestic hotel, spa and grounds all it deserves and 6-stars wouldn’t come as a surprise. While the grounds are vast, the atmosphere at New Hall is both personal and intimate which is enhanced on the evening by friendly local guests, the Brummies.
